Review:  Marquis Hawkes is a world-class producer/DJ based in Berlin, Germany, and has created a masterful mix of music that encompasses the majority of the house music spectrum.  He has also added the vocals of Ursula Rucker (“Don’t U”) and Jamie Lidell (“We Should be Free”) to the mix, and released those two tracks as singles.  “Instrument of Thought” is another great dance track, as is everything on this album.  It is definitely the perfect soundtrack for your next dance party.

Recommendation:  If you like to dance, this music belongs in your library.

Artist NameTombstones in Their Eyes

Album Name Nothing Here

Label:  Send me Your Head Records

Genre:  Psych Rock

Track Listing:  1.  Silhouette; 2.  Take me Away; 3.  Nothing Here

Publicist:  Shameless Promotion PR

Review:  One of the premier psych rock bands in Los Angeles, Tombstones in Their Eyes bring you a rock sound similar to Black Sabbath and My Bloody Valentine.  On this short three-song EP, they waste no time in delivering their hard-driving sound, with appropriate levels of screaming guitars, pulsating drums and pounding  vocals.  “Silhouette” is the best of the three tunes.

Recommendation:  If you love rock, you will probably enjoy this one.

Artist Name:  The Pull of Autumn

Album NameThe Pull of Autumn

Label:  RBM Records

Genre:  Post-Rock Electronic Experimental

Track Listing:  1.  Downpour; 2.  Heaven Now; 3.  Breath; 4.  They Came Down; 5.  A Small Affair of the Heart; 6.  Shimmer Lizard; 7.  Vanishing Spell; 8.  Laurasong; 9.  Trance Fear; 10.  Elusive Love (ft Laura Darrow)

Publicist:  Shameless Promotion PR

Review:  The Pull of Autumn was formed from former members of several other bands, including Luke Skyscraper (Fashion), Dan and Matthew Darrow (Spectral Assignment, Johanna’s House of Glamour), Fred Abong (Belly, Throwing Muses, Johanna’s House of Glamour) and John Orsi (Johanna’s House of Glamour), as well as vocals by Jeanne Batting (Spindle Shanks) and additional drums by Bruce MacLeod (Johanna’s House of Glamour).  The resulting sound fuses elements of rock with electronic and experimental to form an ethereal sound.

Recommendation:  Lovers of electronic and experimental music should definitely check this one out.

Artist NameDaniel Ellsworth & The Great Lakes

Album Name Fashion

Label:  Color Party Records

Genre:  Pop/Rock

Track Listing:  1.  Paralyzed; 2.  The Letdown; 3.  Running; 4.  Modern Lover; 5.  Control; 6.  Catapult; 7.  Comeback Kid; 8.  The End; 9.  Wonder Woman; 10.  Headfirst (It’s all Happening); 11.  Don’t Count me Out; 12.  Patterns of Light

Publicist:  Right Angle PR

Review:  This band has a sound similar to Imagine Dragons and OneRepublic, and could easily make it in the current Top 40 radio scene.  We featured the video for their song “Running,” and immediately fell in love with their chill sound that is still upbeat enough to keep you interested.  These songs are well written, with perfectly sung lyrics over an 80s style pop/rock sound.

Recommendation:  You should definitely Get this one – your musical library will thank you.

Artist NameAndrew Abaria

Album NameIceland

Label:  Self-released

Genre:  Ambient

Track Listing:  1.  Andromeda; 2.  Iceland; 3.  Daydream; 4.  Drive; 5.  Let Go; 6.  Hymnody

Publicist:  Self-promoted

Review:  The goal of Andrew Abaria in creating these ambient songs was to help people be “in the moment,” regardless of what that might be – driving, doing  yoga or other meditation, or just living life.  We think he has definitely succeeded in his goal.  These songs are mellow and have a calming and soothing effect on the listener.  Even the upbeat tunes like the title track and “Daydream” still manage to make you feel more at ease.  They would also be quite useful for music supervisors for placement in commercials, television and film.  If you need help relaxing after a stressful day, put this one on repeat and all your cares will just float away.

Recommendation:  Definitely Get this one.  We all need help relaxing from time to time.
