Track Listing:  1.  Walking Heart Cold; 2.  Arthur Machen; 3.  Black Museum; 4.  Vienna 1913; 5.  Great Void Sewn; 6.  I Want my Lover; 7.  Micro Sleep; 8.  The Barnum Effect; 9.  Beast of Birkenshaw (ft Denise Mina); 10.  Hiroshima Seizures

Publicist:  Vision Music Promotion

Review:  Syvdoh is a musical collaboration between former Sea Kings Brian Canning and Ralph Hector , two of the UK’s most prolific musicians, and the result is a radio friendly sound that still addresses meaty political and social issues like gang culture, heaven, death, mental health, the press, the void, mind control, serial killers, homophobia, death camps, slave ships, psychics, and Hiroshima.  Best tracks include “Walking Heart Cold,” “Arthur Machen,” “I Want my Lover,” “Micro Sleep,” “Beast of Birkenshaw,” and “Hiroshima Seizures.”

Recommendation:  If you like pop music with a message, then you should definitely check out this album.

Publicist:  Vision Music Promotion

Review:  The Mouse Outfit is a hip-hop collective composed of Chini and Deft from South Manchester and was begun as the house band for a hip-hop open mic night called In the Loop.  For this album, 29 artists, including several featured vocalists, are involved, including production and mixing elements, creating a diverse sound that spans from funk to reggae, with a healthy dose of hip-hop rhyme as the cherry on top.  The first single, “I Wonder,” which features IAMDDB & Fox, has gotten more than 1 million views on YouTube, and there are 16 more potential singles on this album.  We really like the sound of IAMDDB, having reviewed her album back in August.  This album has a lot of potential for radio as well as placements in television and film.

Recommendation:  If you love hip-hop, you will find something you like on this one.

Artist Name We Are Leif

Album Name Breathe

Label:  Self-released

Genre:  Jazz

Track Listing:  Unknown

Publicist:  Vision Music Promotion

Review:  Really wanted to review this album after hearing the lead single, “I Found You.”  The female vocalist is amazing, and this band has a very tight sound that listeners besides jazz lovers will enjoy.  Unfortunately, nothing is available at this time, but we’ll try again later.

Recommendation:  The single is amazing, so listen to it at Spotify.  Hopefully the rest of the album will be just as good.

Artist Name:   Roxy Jules

Album Name:  IV

Label:  Nordic Music

Genre:  Indie Rock/Electronic Noise

Track Listing:  1.  Fractured Bones; 2.  May the Bridges I Burn Light the Way; 3.  Straight Lines; 4.  Restlessness; 5.  On the Verge of a Usual Mistake; 6.  Come Away With Me; 7.  When the Shadow Start Movin; 8.  Driving at Night

Publicist:  Vision Music Promotion

Review:  She has been compared to a cross between PJ Harvey and Sonic Youth, but this young lady is so much more.  This is rock music that will move you, emotionally and otherwise, with words that cut deep and music that washes over you like a tidal wave.  She must be doing something right because this is her fourth album and the fans keep coming back for more.  This is different from most indie rock projects, but no less interesting, and we believe the hype.  In fact, check out the video for the lead single, “May the Bridges I Burn Light the Way.”

We simply love her voice and the dynamic she brings to her craft.  We think you’ll be hearing a lot more from this amazing artist.

Recommendation:  Definitely Get this one.

Artist Name Candace Devine

Album NameHere we Are

Label:  Self-released

Genre:  R&B/Soul/Pop

Track Listing:  1.  Over Getting Over You; 2.  Treat me Like a Lady; 3.  One More Night; 4.  Givin’ it Up; 5.  Here we Are; 6.  Won’t Back Down

Publicist:  Self-promoted

Review:  Candace Devine was a huge part of the LA music scene for many years, including her stint as one-half of the power-pop duo David and Devine.  Along came love, and she left the music business to move to Arizona and raise a family.  Finally, after nearly a decade, she has returned with an even more powerful sound, and celebrated the release of her new EP with a concert in her hometown Elks Theater in Prescott, where her producer, legendary guitarist Jason “Slim” Gambil of Lady Antebellum opened the show.  Besides the five amazing originals, she puts her signature stamp on her cover of the Tom Petty classic, “Won’t Back Down.”  She has kept the jazzy edge on the first track, “Over Getting Over You,” no doubt a result of her time working with jazz legend Mindy Abair.  The sweet intro by her son on the R&B tune “Treat me Like a Lady” sets up the song perfectly.  She slows things down with the mellow soulful ballad, “One More Night,” before bringing back the groove on the jazzy tune, “Givin’ it Up.”  She closes out this amazing EP with the title track, another soulful ballad, and her stunning cover.

Recommendation:  Although it is not yet available, we STRONGLY encourage you to pre-order it so you can have it as soon as it is released.  Make sure to follow her Facebook page for the latest information.

Get it or forget it – Mark Wayne Glasmire, Hilary Scott, Young Million, Paolo Preite, K Michelle DuBois

Happy Friday!  Today the League Championship Series begin with our Milwaukee Brewers hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Boston Red Sox hosting the Houston Astros.  Should be a great series.  In the meantime, let’s check out five great albums being released today.

Artist NameMark Wayne Glasmire

Album Name:  Can’t be Denied

Label:  Traceway Records

Genre:  Singer-Songwriter Country

Track Listing:  1.  I’ve got a Feeling; 2.  Those Nights; 3.  Can’t be Denied; 4.  Without You; 5.  Alysia; 6.  Borderline; 7.  Feel Your Love; 8.  Gone too Soon; 9.  This too Shall Pass; 10.  Deep Inside my Heart; 11.  Out of the Frying Pan; 12.  Thru my Eyes

Publicist:  So Much Moore Media

Review:  Referred to as the “Texas Troubadour,” country singer-songwriter Mark Wayne Glasmire has a hit with his latest release, Can’t be Denied.  Beginning with “I’ve Got a Feeling,” Glasmire brings us potential hit after potential hit, and his music is truly radio friendly.  “Those Nights” and the title track would also be ideal for potential placement in a commercial, or in television and/or film.  “Without You” and “This Too Shall Pass” are two of the best ballads we have heard in a quite a spell, while “Deep Inside my Heart” will have you two-stepping around the floor in no time flat.  We could go on and on about each and every song, as none of them could possibly be consider “weak.”  This album should just be put on repeat and enjoyed over and over.

Recommendation:  Get this one as soon as you can.

Artist NameHilary Scott

Album Name Don’t Call me Angel

Label:  Belltown Records

Genre:  Country/Folk

Track Listing:  1.  Don’t Call me Angel; 2.  Not Used to Being Used To; 3.  You Will be Mine; 4.  Make it Right; 5.  Heartless; 6.  Unlove Story; 7.  Moon and Back; 8.  In Time; 9.  Kiss; 10.  Here I Am

Publicist:  KG Music Press

Review:  Not to be confused with Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum, this Hilary Scott is just as amazing.  On this album, her sound is pure classic country with just a taste of folk, and she is a master of this genre.  Her songs belong on the radio right beside those of her amazing name sake, with every one a potential hit.  As wonderful as her original numbers are, she also takes the time to put her own spin on her cover of a song written by Prince and made famous by Tom Jones, “Kiss.”  Another album for the repeat button.

Recommendation:  Run, don’t walk, to your nearest retailer and GET this one NOW!

Artist NameSmall Million

Album NameYoung Fools

Label:  Self-released

Genre:  Synth Pop

Track Listing:  1.  LONE; 2.  Sirens; 3.  Young Fools; 4.  Wild Devices; 5.  This is Where it Ends; 6.  Bullets in the Bower; 7.  Outro (Cathedrals)

Publicist:  Noisy Ghost PR

Review:  Portland has shown once again that it has some of the best indie music in the country.  Los Angeles transplant Ryan Linder and Portland native Malachi Graham join together to form Small Million, and the synth pop world will never be the same again.  They hit the ground running with their first single, “LONE,” and never stop ascending with the remainder of this amazing sophomore EP.  This is a band that needs to be on the radar of every radio station manager, as well as heavily considered by music supervisors for a myriad of placements in commercials, television and film.  We simply love this band and this EP, and consider it to be one of the best we have heard this year.

Recommendation:  What are you waiting for?  Get it!!!

Artist NamePaolo Preite

Album NameAn Eye on the World

Label:  Self-released

Genre:  Indie Rock

Track Listing:  1.  It’s not Over Yet (ft. Onde J Pivec); 2.  Wandering (ft Kenny Arnoff, Bob Malone & Fernando Saunders); 3.  Memories & Dust (ft Jane Scarpatoni & Onde J Pivec); 4.  Una Piccola Differenza (ft Fernando Saunders); 5.  Don’t Stop Dreaming; 6.  I Will Meet you Again (ft Michael Jerome & Chiara Marcon); 7.  Can’t Find a Reason (ft Kenny Arnoff); 8.  Never Ending Way (ft Chip Crawford, Joe Ayoub & TEss); 9.  An Eye on the World (ft Bob Malone & Michael Jerome); 10.  In Your Eyes (ft Onde J Pivec)

Publicist:  Self-promoted

Review:  Paolo Preite may originally be from Rome, but the amazing cast of musicians joining him on this album are pure Los Angeles royalty.  His form of indie rock is reminiscent of Bob Seger and Jackson Browne and is extremely radio friendly.  These are songs we would love to hear on our radio dial, and anywhere else they can be placed.  There is a plethora of material here that is perfect for placement and for heavy radio rotation, with every song a heavy hitter.  We simply cannot get enough of this album or this artist, and believe that this album could very well be his breakout time.  He belongs at the top of the charts, and is definitely worthy of attention from the Grammy nomination committee.

Recommendation:  Don’t stop until you Get this one!

Artist NameK Michelle DuBois

Album NameHarness

Label:  Self-released

Genre:  Indie Rock

Track Listing:  1.  Orchid; 2.  Love and Only Love; 3.  Velvet Eyes; 4.  City Lights; 5.  Wild Weed; 6.  Heart Like a Yardstick; 7.  Celeste; 8.  Becoming Real; 9.  Margot on the Ocean; 10.  Dream Receiver

Publicist:  Shameless Promotion PR

Review:  Sounding like she time-traveled from a 90’s rock band, K. Michelle DuBois bursts onto the indie rock scene with a smashing album that truly delivers.  DuBois has a voice similar to Stevie Nicks, with a powerful group of musicians that play circles around Fleetwood Mac.  DuBois may be the most powerful indie vocalist we have encountered this year, and we have no doubt that she has what it takes to bloom on the national music scene.  She belongs on the radio and we can only imagine the incredible performance she would deliver live in concert.  A Star is Born and we couldn’t be more delighted with the impeccable musical chops of DuBois.  The sky is truly the limit for this talented musician and songwriter.

Recommendation:  You simply MUST Get this one, sooner rather than later!

Get it or forget it – Yem Gel, Nir Yaniv, Sam Llanas, Lora Kelley, Jason “Slim” Gambill

We’re back with another edition of Get it or Forget it.  The requests keep rolling in and we’re trying to catch up, so please be patient.  We have a special treat for you today, so grab your coffee and let’s get going.

Artist NameYem Gel

Album NameKnot Being

Label:  Kick + Clap

Genre:  Electronic  Instrumental

Track Listing:  1.  Bounded and Shattered; 2.  Knotg3rl; 3.  Avarija Valley rect; 4.  Ice Kold Ork

Publicist:  Worldwide Friendly Society Communications

Review:  Yem Gel is the electronic persona for Euro-UK born musician, composer, producer and visual artist Alecs Pierce.  This four-song EP is a collection of electronic ambient music.  While interesting, the music is strange and different, and not suitable for radio, although he may find some use for his compositions as background for commercials.  The music is very futuristic and not at all enjoyable to this reviewer.

Recommendation:  If you like to listen to futuristic electronica, then you may like this one.  Otherwise, forget it.

Artist NameNir Yaniv

Album NameThe Voice Remains

Label:  Self-released

Genre:  Balkan Beat Box

Track Listing:  1.  Time Wave; 2.  Memory of a Third Planet; 3.  The Voice Remains; 4.  Five Formidable Feats; 5.  The Seventh Garden; 6.  A Universe Reborn

Publicist:  EMPKT PR

Review:  This is one of the most unique albums we have ever reviewed.  We have previously featured him in our Monday Mashup, as he has created animated music videos for each of the tracks.  Nir Yaniv provides the vocals which serve as the bass, guitars and keyboards while fellow Israeli drummer Karen Teperberg provides the percussion.  Unlike the release reviewed above, Yaniv’s compositions have definite commercial placement potential, and his accompanying music videos are incredibly well done and visually stimulating, especially if you like the similar style of the Beatles’ movie Yellow Submarine.  This one provides great background music and is sure to be enjoyed by all ages.

Recommendation:  Definitely give this one a go.

Artist NameSam Llanas

Album NameReturn of the Goya – Part 1

Label:  Self-released

Genre:  Roots-Americana

Track Listing:  1.  Follow Your Heart; 2.  Recipe; 3.  All Day; 4.  Heroes; 5.  Little Song; 6.  Little Song II; 7.  All Alone Again; 8.  Rio; 9.  Long Way Home; 10.  Down the Line; 11.  Big Ol Moon

Publicist:  Daystorm Music

Review:  Sam Llanas may sound familiar to you, as he was formerly with the band BoDeans.  He has returned to his solo ways with this amazing collection of classically country-inspired tunes, featuring great lyrical content and storytelling, amazing instrumentation, and the sweet sound of his vocals.  He sets things perfectly in motion with the first track, “Follow Your Heart,” and doesn’t slow down for the entire album.  The songs are reminiscent of classic country groups like Little River Band, with the folky feel of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.  Pretty impressive considering this is a solo effort.  This one should definitely be put on repeat, as you will want to hear this tunes again and again.

Recommendation:  Definitely Get this one!

Artist NameLora Kelley

Album NameLora Kelley

Label:  Self-released

Genre:  Americana

Track Listing:  1.  Good Men Don’t Hurt You; 2.  Creeping In; 3.  I Wish You’d Come Back Now; 4.  Both Hands; 5.  Steel Magnolia

Publicist:  EMPKT PR

Review:  We have featured Lora Kelley in two of our Monday Mashup articles, including yesterday’s feature on her latest video, “Good Men Don’t Hurt You.”  Kelley has a sweet soothing voice that delivers a wallop with the intensity and truthfulness contained in her lyrics.  She is not afraid to speak out about issues affecting women, but does so in a manner that makes you listen to the words and not be offended about the subject matter.  We think she has the potential for a long musical career, and we look forward to a full length album in the not too distant future.

Recommendation:  Jump on the bandwagon now.  This lady is going places.

Artist Name Jason “Slim” Gambill

Album NameFake Jazz & Theme Songs

Label:  Self-released

Genre:  Jazz

Track Listing:  1.  Last Time Thing; 2.  Levitations; 3.  Cop Show (ft. Jeff Coffin); 4.  54321 (ft. Jeff Coffin); 5.  Silly Time; 6.  Lyla Marie; 7.  Also Shuffle (ft. Kenneth Crouch); 8.  Victory Blvd; 9.  4 Guitars Having a Conversation Over Cocktails (ft. Isaac Hanson & Chris Nix)

Publicist:  Self-promoted

Review:  Jason “Slim” Gambill has made a name for himself as the guitarist for country super group Lady Antebellum, and even accompanied Charles Kelley on his solo project.  He is also a sought-after studio musician in Nashville, so it was just a matter of time before he recorded his own solo project.  We are here to tell you that the wait was worth it, as his new album is simply amazing.  The music is a throwback to when he played in a band with bassist Darwin Johnson (Colbie Cailat), drummer Michael Miley (Rival Sons) and Grammy-winning keyboardist Dave Yaden.   This time around, he has drafted Justin Glasco on drums, Mike Rojas on keys and Matt Wigton on bass, as well as Jeff Coffin on saxophone, Kenneth Crouch on piano and Isaac Hanson and Chris Nix on guitar.  The music is funky, spicy and straight ahead acid jazz, and we love it!

Recommendation:  By all means, grab this one.  Whether you like jazz or not, you will find something to love here.
