Monday mashup 2020 (vol 11)

We’re back!  After a flurry of Pizza Hut RGM (that’s restaurant general manager) resignations, I have had to work 70+ hours for each of the past three weeks.  In fact, today is only my second day off since this began.  So much great music has been released recently that we hardly know where to start.  We hope you are as excited by these new tunes as we are in sharing them.

NEW SINGLES

Our first new single is from Alecia Nugent, with a country gem that will definitely pull at your heart strings.  Check out “They Don’t Make ’em Like my Daddy Anymore.”

Next up is a timely song from Blue Élan Records resident country songstress, Chelsea Williams.  Listen to the words and take action – “No Justice, No Peace.”

Single number three is a call to action to those who haven’t learned that “Actions speak louder then words.”  It’s been a long time since Ali Handal released new music, and based on her latest, the wait was worth it.  Listen to “Shut Your Mouth and Do Something,” and take it to heart.

We have a special YouTube single for you today, with the release of the latest from South Africa’s own Cara Frew.  She’s “Waiting for Love,” and we don’t want her to wait any longer.

Next up is a song that combines the resources of the uber-talented Shooter Jennings with his long-time friend and bassist, Ted Russell Kamp.  “Home Sweet Hollywood” is from Kamp’s latest offering, From the Den, and shows that Kamp is not just a supporting musician by a front man on his own.  Enjoy this groovy tune.

Our final single this week is the perfect marriage of blues and rock, and feels like BB King and Jimi Hendrix had a love child.  Enjoy the rocking “Touch the Sky,” from the James Pace Band.

NEW MUSIC VIDEOS

We kick off our music videos this week with the latest lyric video from Life.Church Worship, from their forthcoming EP, Jesus is Near, which will be released on August 14.  Here’s “Never Will.”

Back in July 1983, Christian music was changed with the birth of STRYPER, the first Christian metal band.  The band has announced the release of their new album, Even the Devil Believes, on September 4.  In the meantime, they have released a lyric video for the timely “Make Love Great Again.”  We are so  happy to have them back.

Our next lyric video is from BLAZAR, aka Jerad Finck, who is joined by DAXSEN on “Tomorrow.”  It is no wonder this latest collaboration is headed to the top of the charts.

One of our favorite Latin artists, Vanessa Zamora, has a sure hit with the R&B-tinged stylings of “Ayer.”  This one will help you get your groove on.

We close out this edition of Monday Mashup with the latest masterpiece from Ben Fuller.  “Find my Faith” will strengthen your own resolve to make it through these trying days.

NEW SINGLES

Our first single comes from an old friend who has a new project.  We have always been a huge fan of Megan Burtt, and have reviewed her a few times.  She has a new band named Gingerbomb, and they have released their first single, “Wildfire.”  Check out those harmonies.

Our second single is from another amazing Blue Élan Records artist, Car Astor, formerly known as SEE.  Check out the amazing rhythms of “Girlfriend.”

Our third single comes from a band with the most original name we have discovered to date – Approachable Members of Your Local Community.  Check out their new single, “Only Friend,” featuring the vocals of Tamara Dream.

Our next single takes it up a few notches on the rocking scale, and we really love the sound of Laurina Sue‘s “Dark Side.”  Check it out and see if you’re ready to cross over.

Our final single comes from the UK with the premiere of Peakes‘ latest, “Still Life.”  We introduced you to them last year and we think this one will be perfect for your Monday.

NEW MUSIC VIDEOS

Last week we reviewed the latest album from Saint Slumber, and today we want to share their new music video.  Check out “Stay Away.”

Vanessa Zamora is becoming one of our favorite Latin artists, and we are proud to feature her newest video, “Solegrande,” today.  This one should get your charged up for the new week.

We switch it up with our third video from the rock band, Superbean.  We love the energy of “Marisol,” and think you will too.

Last week we reviewed the new album from Everlast, and are happy to share the video for his video, “Don’t Complaint.”  Welcome back!

Our final video this week is from another artist who is becoming one of our favorites.  Last week we shared her cover of David Bowie’s “Lost in Love.”  This week she brings us the video for her song, “Strangest Dream.”  Check out Rachel Eckroth and let us know what you think.

Ten amazing videos released in August 2018

As summer draws to a close, it’s still been a busy month for indie artists, who continue to bombard us with amazing videos.  Here are ten that we couldn’t fit into our Monday Mashup series, but are worthy of your consideration.

Our first video is from a band that we featured back in July and we really love their music and imaginative lyrics.  Here’s “Heart Boner” from Ninja Sex Party.  Can  you dig it?

Our next video comes from Scottish duo Free Love, with French lyrics from lead singer Suzanne Roden.  We think you will love this dance track featuring their singles “Pushing Too Hard” and “July.”

Next up is a beautiful video from Louise Marshall, inspired by a particularly hopeless time in her life.  Check out her song “Ocean” and see if it gives you goosebumps like it did for us.

Our fourth video comes from the amazing voice of Desanka.  We really love the sound of “Heart on a String” and think you will too.

At the midway point this month is an upbeat video from Dean Everett Jackson which we think is just the ticket for the weekend.  Here’s “Silver Linings.”  This is his first video, and we are extremely impressed.

Our next video is from Dead Ceremony, a band we have already featured three times because we just love their vision.  Check out their latest video for “Heartache.”

Our seventh video is “Rio” from Mexican singer-songwriter Vanessa Zamora.  We love the Spanish lyrics, and moving dance beat and the feel of this video.

Check out this amazing live video from Canadian country rock band Wave 21 for their song, “Ya Ya Ya.”

Video number 9 comes from Australian Max C Bud.  We love his indie rock sound and think you will too.  Check out “Temptress.”

Our final video this month is from Defanico and features Avanti in their video “You Make me Feel.”  We love the 80’s feel of the song and think it is the perfect way to end this edition of Ten Amazing Videos.

Monday mashup 2018: vol. 24

Hope you all survived your celebrating on the 4th and the ensuing weekend.  We’re glad to be back with you again this week for another edition of Monday Mashup.  Let’s see what’s new this week.

RECENT UM GRADUATE NATASHA CONTI DIRECTS PLAY

The newly-formed Cadmium Company, composed of University of Montana students and alumni, will present a new play by local playwright and University of Wisconsin-Madison PhD student Joshua Kelly, The Book of Us, to audiences this month.  It is directed by recent UM MFA graduate Natasha Conti, and will be performed at 8 p.m. on July 12, 13 and 14 at a private residence (disclosed upon ticket reservation).

Tickets are a suggested $5 donation at the door. Reservations are available by emailing cadmiumcompany@gmail.com.  Audience discretion is advised as the performance includes adult themes, language, and nudity.  Seating is limited so audience members are encouraged to reserve seats early.

NEW SINGLES

Our first single this week should get you up and ready for the new week.  Here’s Ethan Lumus and “Sex.”  As you can imagine, it is NSFW.

Next is the latest from Brooklyn-based dream pop singer Kirsten Knick aka Völuspa with the absolutely beautiful and ethereal “Feel You.”

Our third single this week comes from LA Music Critic Award winning Best International Artist Dom Fricot.  He has just released this third single from his amazing album Deserts, and we think you will enjoy “Time Flies.”

Our next single is a remix of Crayon‘s tune “After the Tone” by Duñe.  It has an upbeat soulful sound and we think you will really like it.

Our final single this week is “Malas Amistades” from internationally acclaimed vocalist Vanessa Zamora.  We love the vibe of this song, even if we don’t know what she’s saying.  Let us know what you think.

First up this week is a lyric video from Toronto duo The Darcys (ft. Leah Fay).  It is an upbeat tune that will have your toes tapping in no time at all.  Check out “Just Here With my Friends.”

Our next lyric video is from LA powerhouse duo Smoke Season, who are preparing to take the UK by storm.  Here is their awesome single, “Sweetest Thing.”

Our third video is from indie rockers Summerteeth.  It reminds us of the Gin Blossoms, and we think you will love “Stay Warm.”

Next is another lyric video, this time from one of our favorite male artists Stephen Michael Murphy.  Here is “Why,” and our response is “Why Not?”

Our final video this week is “Half Dreams” from futuristic pop band CROATIA.  We think this one is the perfect video to launch your week.  We’ll be back next week with more Monday Mashup.
